Fun!

Power arrived this afternoon, whoo! After powering up the phones and fiddling with the settings I definitely need to get a SIP image for the phones. Pain in the ass things is that they aren't cheap, but I think there's a way around it through a Cisco maintenance contract.

Cisco 7940 in action!

The screen is very cool, and quite high res. Can't wait to actually get it all going! Just a little bit frustrating :)

That's all my ramblings for the day! :)

I can see a mail icon near the bottom right (next to the phone book icon). Is that that for listing to voicemail messages or does it show you unread e-mails?

That's for voicemail. The button to the right of it is for LDAP directory dialling! :)

Jez gets all worked over a phone. I wonder how he will be when he buys a new car or a new house.

I'm all good :)

Already done the house and car thing. I've managed to secure a couple of Cisco maintenance contracts for $15 AU/pop so it's all sorted now :)

Does it play DVD's?

I wonder what those LCD's refresh rates are? Are there any kind of animation on start-up or during operation?

Allen:
I'd say it'd be pretty high. There's animations, but not on startup. There's like a status circle that fills in quarters, pretty smooth action.

Hayo:
Not yet :p Although it has an XML type browser inbuilt.

Ed Deline used a 7960 in Las Vegas (the TV show) the other night, and he had stock charts and such on the display. He also used it to control the blinds in his office. Can't wait to see what you can do with yours, Jez.

i remember seeing a thing on the internet that would let this guy close and open blinds and switch on lights and turn on his hottub and stuff like that through any browser. jez, you should set up something like that so we can have some fun wiht you :)

You could do something with your phone that lets you order pizza and get it sent directly to your door, all without leaving the chair.

Technology these days, it's hard to keep up!

You need to write some full-blown articles about your VoIP adventures for enthusiastic ignoramuses such as myself!

I was wondering what "configuring CM list" means (as shown on the photo).

Jez

Because the phones have the Cisco Call Manager software on it, it's looking for that server. The CM List is a list of configurations sent by the server.

My SIP licenses should arrive today (fingers crossed).
